Welcome to Weekly Explorer No. 5!
How is everyone doing?
I’ve been struggling for the last few weeks and have only begun to feel like myself again. Taking a break from social media and reducing my news intake to once-a-day newsletters (like this one and this one) has really helped.
I also had the chance to visit the Outer Banks in North Carolina with some friends. The change of scene was therapeutic. And inspired me to continue my road trip journey!
So next week I’m heading home to Iowa! To be as informed as possible, I spent a lot of time reading about COVID-19 safety and travel considerations in the states I’ll be driving through. I’ve included the best resources here to help you to safely plan your own trip!
What are your plans for this summer? I’d love to hear from you! You can reach me on Instagram @eastbymidwest or by email at pam@eastbymidwest.com.

LIFE HACKS CORNER
Opening stubborn jar lids: Did you know that you can easily pop the vacuum seal of a jar with a spoon or knife?
Just insert the top of the utensil between the lid and the glass of the jar. Then push the utensil handle down like a lever. You should hear the vacuum seal pop. The jar lid will then twist open easily.
It’s pure magic. Why didn’t they teach this in school?!
